While It’s Just a Phone Call to Her, Is It Really Just a Phone Call for Me …

A small story about how her voice proves that sound can travel miles beyond light.

I wish every phone call must be priced based on the petrol cost that covers that distance, especially in India 😁

While the flight landed quite early than the expected time, I collected my baggage and marched towards the terminal exit. Since the weather encourages me to compliment myself, I entered the beer cafe.

I could find one of my favorites from the menu to quench my thirst. Since I drained the mobile battery, I have no other option except to recollect old memories until the next flight's layover time.

Memories are so weird where they have no boundaries for both space and time.

It’s been a couple of years since that contact number is missing, and all of a sudden, there was a neuron striking to pull out that number. Although the numbers arrived partially, I was able to fill up those 10 digits and started dialing in the telephone next to my table. Thanks to that classic telephone and the energy drink, which helps me to arrive how I was a few years back.

After few rings comes the same voice and it never changed actually. Even her “hello…” too. Formally when I introduced myself, I can able to sense her reaction from her voice.

It’s a strange feeling when you hear the voice you longed for once, after so many years over the phone. But the feel is good. The conversation went on for a while about our present standings in life, and as usual, she started posing several questions.

Some of them were answered by words and a few of them by silences. While I was not so much interested in her talks on her current environment, I like the way she still didn’t change my role as well as her too. She played the speaker While I was the listener as usual, and I always love to play that.

Silence is the most powerful expression and Listening is the best way of respect .

At the end of this conversation, I couldn’t remember anything except I congratulated her, “Happy married life.”

While the modern kids are dealing with FaceTime and video calling, I am so happy about our conversation over this classic telephone receiver. The reason I enjoyed most is because it’s not any electronic gadget which displayed her but my eyes that visualized her face, my mind that senses her emotions and my heart that recognizes her feelings.

It means a lot more than just a phone call, and I am glad that she never changed and expected any change from me as well. And that’s why she is more special still.

Any can argue, Few can understand and Only very few can sustain.
